DESCRIPTION:The Sanibel Island Farmers Market located at City Hall is open every Sunday\, starting October 4th from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through May 30th. This will be the 13th season for the market on Sanibel. This outdoor marketplace has something for everyone: Fresh fruits and vegetables\, seafood\, honey\, meats\, cut flowers\, prepared meals\, mini-donuts\, cupcakes\, bagels\, guacamole\, pickles\, cheeses\, baked goods\, native plants\, artisan foods\, local crafts\, organics and much more. We invite all residents and visitors to enjoy Sunday mornings with us. We are OPEN on Easter Sunday. We encourage shoppers to bring any dry and canned foods to the market booth or give a monetary amount on Sundays that will be donated each week to F.I.S.H.\, our Islands’ food pantry. We are a plastic straw free zone\, we also ask shoppers to refrain from smoking and only service dogs are allowed in the vendor area. No single use plastic bags will be used. Reasonably price reusable bags will be for sale at the market booth or bring your own.\nIMPORTANT: Certain precautions will be in place to keep our community safe and prevent the spread of COVID. Please follow these guidelines:\n1. EVERYONE MUST wear a mask upon entering the Farmers Market.\n2. Do not come if sick.\n3. Practice social distancing\n4. DESCRIPTION:National Touring artist “ROCKIN’ JAKE BLUES BAND” & “THE MARTY STOKES BAND” APPEARING SUNDAY JAN. 31 (2pm to 6pm)\n“ROCKIN’ JAKE” has conjured up a formula that is blowing crowds away from coast to coast. JAKE has been hailed as one of the premier harmonica players in the country. His original sound is a hybrid of second line\, swamp funk\, blues and zydeco with influences from Paul Butterfield\, Big Walter Horton\, James Cotton\, The Meters\, WAR\, J. Geils Band\, Clifton Chenier\, and the Fabulous Thunderbirds. He appears in over 200 performances per year include clubs\, concert venues\, and festivals.\nBased out of New Orleans relocated (post Katrina) to St. Louis and now lives in Southern Florida. He immersed himself in the thriving regional blues scene\, which boasted such talents as Roomful of Blues\, Ronnie Earl\, Duke Robillard and Sugar Ray. Primarily self-taught\, Jake studied with Jerry Portnoy\, harmonica player for Muddy Waters. He has worked with such notable New Orleans mainstays as: Marva Wright\, Mem Shannon\, Coco Robicheaux\, Little Freddie King\, Tommy Ridgley and Eddie Bo. He toured nationally with other local legends like: G. Love & Special Sauce\, Maria Muldaur\, T.J\, Wheeler\, Pinetop Perkins and Hubert Sumlin at the Howlin’ Wolf.\nIn 1995 JAKE formed the Rockin’ Jake Band as an outlet for his original music and his unique swampy sounds. In 1996 he recorded his first album\, “Let’s Go Get ‘Em” which earned him national recognition. In 1999 Jake produced “Badmouth” and “Full-Time Work” in 2002. It included an all-star cast of musicians such as John Gros (Papa Grows Funk)\, Ron Johnson (Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe)\, Bryan Stoltz (the funky Meters)\, Ben Ellman and Theryl “Houseman” de Clouet (Galactic). In 2004 he recorded his band’s first live cd in Key West at the Green Parrot.
